Editor’s Conclusion
For a full-body workout, there are few machines that hit as many muscle groups as the Proform Cardio HIIT H7 trainer.

This small yet mighty machine helps users shed calories quickly while building muscle. If you only have 10 minutes to fit in a workout, this high-intensity interval training machine is one of your best options.

What I love most about this machine is that it is a combination between an elliptical and a stair stepper that is kind to your joints, yet brutal to your muscles!

On its own, this machine packs in plenty of built-in resistance and heart-pumping training programs for beginners to veterans. With the iFit app, your daily workouts will advance to a whole new level.

If you only have a short amount of time to burn off that jelly donut you had for breakfast, the ProForm Cardio HIIT H7 Trainer is one of the best tools to sweat that donut right out of your body.

Key Features

PERFORMANCE

High-Intensity Interval Training (or HIIT) is a short little ditty of a workout. It involves users pushing themselves to 100 percent of their max capacity (think sprinting as fast as you can for 30 seconds), followed by a short recovery period.

This style of workout is a great way to strengthen your heart, burn calories, and build muscle in a relatively short amount of time. This machine from Proform is centered around this style of workout.

The pedals move in a motion that is similar to an elliptical or a stair stepper. It helps to build muscle in your lower body as well as elevate your heart rate. When used with compatible arms, you achieve a full range of motion that activates every muscle in your body.

If you want to build muscle, burn fat, and still have plenty of time to check off all of the tasks on your daily to-do list, this machine is a great tool to get you there.

LOW IMPACT

High-intensity training doesn’t necessarily have to also mean high-impact. The pedals on this machine offer a fluid range of motion that is super kind to your joints.

For users that often beat up their knees and joints when running on hard surfaces or engaging in plyometrics, this machine is like a breath of fresh air (for your joints, not your muscles!).

While the motion of this machine is low impact, the construction of the pedals is also kind to your joints as well.

These oversized pedals give your plenty of room to engage in a natural range of motion, and they are coated with a cushioned material to further cushion your joints. These pedals are super grippy and responsive, which promotes a natural range of motion.

RESISTANCE

At a resistance level of zero, this machine still offers an excellent high-intensity workout that will really get your heart pumping. However, it also offers up to 24 challenging resistance levels that are perfect for those that want to sculpt muscle while they burn fat.

It’s also important to note that these resistance levels are not for the faint of heart. Even seasoned veterans only pop the resistance level to about 15 for their workouts.

What I also love about the resistance offered with this machine is that it is built with something called SMR™ Silent Magnetic Resistance. The central flywheel uses magnetic resistance to amp up the difficulty on the line, and it runs virtually silently.

If you love to get in an early morning workout but don’t want to wake up the entire household, this machine will keep things nice and quiet. No one likes noisy workout machines! The only noise that will emit from this machine will be your whimpers of exhaustion.

DISPLAY

With a full-color 7-inch touch screen monitor, adjusting your workouts is super simple. While this machine comes with a free trial of their iFit app (which I highly recommend, but more on that later), it can also be used without it.

The base design of this onboard screen display allows users to toggle through their performance data that includes distance, time, calories burned, and steps. It also comes equipped with a few interval training programs to get you started.

However, if you want to reap the full benefits of this incredibly impressive machine, I highly recommend giving their compatible iFit app a try!

IFIT

Utilizing iFit is a great way to get you excited to hop on this machine to shed some calories and build muscle. I typically hate subscription apps, but the iFit app is well worth the price point.

If you are unsure if you will use iFit enough to justify a monthly subscription, ProForm offers a 3-year free trial! I had to re-read the product description to ensure that I read that right. This 3-year free trial almost offsets the cost of the entire machine!

iFit provides users with live fitness classes, leaderboards, and workout programs that you can use both on and off of your machine. It also boasts an exploration mode that works with google maps that allows you to train all over the world.

Want to explore Paris or run on the beach? You have that option. You can even train in your childhood neighborhood.

The iFit app even sends all of your workout data straight to your fitness and health apps to keep track of your progress.

SIZE

Cardio machines have a reputation of demanding quite a bit of floor space in your home workout area, but the ProForm Cardio HIIT H7 trainer boasts a relatively small footprint. As a hybrid stepper/elliptical, this machine is taller than it is wide. It measures to be just 29.25-inches wide, 52-inches deep and stands to be 66.7-inches tall.

Due to its overall height, be sure that you have at least 6 feet of ceiling clearance in your workout space. Basements with drop ceilings may prove to be a bit of an issue, so be sure to take ample measurements before you make a decision.

What I also love about this machine is that it is able to accommodate a higher weight capacity than many other cardio machines out there on the market. Many cardio machines max out at around 250-300 pounds, while this machine is able to confidently hold up to 325 pounds.

This higher weight capacity is perfect for heavier users, or even for those that want to incorporate dumbbells into their workout routine.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Even without the iFit membership, this machine provides a good deal of extra bonus features that make it stand out from the pack.

The CoolAire™ Workout Fan delivers a shot of very welcome cool air right to the face to keep you nice and comfortable as you burn through your workout. It has a built-in water bottle holder, and crystal clear speakers to keep the music pumping.

This machine also utilizes oversize feet grips that anchor your machine down to the floor (without the need to actually bolt it to the floor). This design feature eliminates wobbling, even when used at high intensities.

PRICE

The price of this machine is a little more expensive than most, but it is well worth the price point for users that want a machine that sheds fat and builds muscle in a matter of minutes.

This compound machine targets almost every muscle group in your body, which eliminates the need to invest in multiple machines that are targeted to specific muscle groups. It’s small, effective, kind to your joints, and includes a 3-year free trial of iFit.

Sure, it’s a little expensive, but the build of this machine and the included iFit trial are well worth every penny!

Verdict

I won’t dance around it- this machine is pretty intense. Even when used at a slow and steady pace without any added resistance, it’s sure to get your muscles humming and your heart rate elevated.

When you amp up the speed and intensity, be prepared to tend to your sore muscles the following day.

What I love most about this cardio machine is that it delivers intense workouts in a small and compact package that won’t take up that much room in your home gym.

Have I mentioned that it comes with a three-year subscription to the iFit app? This app is a great way to keep your workouts fresh and exciting, and it works on and off of your machine.

This app not only works with the machine, but it provides a myriad of dynamic exercise programs like yoga or cross-training that you can access off of your machine. Need a good cool down after a HIIT workout? The iFit app has you covered.

If you are serious about building muscle and burning fat but cannot dedicate hours of your day to working out, the Proform Cardio HIIT H7 Trainer is worth checking out.

It may cost a little bit more than your average mid-level cardio machine, but it is well worth every single penny!
