CamelBak Circuit Hydration VestReview Facts

CamelBak is a well-known brand that creates excellent backpacks that are just made to improve your running life. More often than not, runners are faced with backpack issues when they run. Holding everything in your hands is not safe, as you can easily drop your valuables or end up hurting yourself. A large, heavy backpack may sound like a good idea, but it will bounce and add extra weight you don’t need when you run. This is why you need a specialized backpack, and the Circuit is one of them. Read on and find out what makes the Circuit so great!

Comfort

Comfort

Your backpack has to be comfortable. Otherwise, you will often need to stop and readjust it, or even take it off your back, which is detrimental to your pace and overall running experience. The shoulder straps of the Circuit are rather wide, but they are lightweight. They distribute weight evenly around your back, to save it from pressure and stress. The chest straps sit low on the backpack, and one is elastic to fit your body to the tee. This way, you get a tight, comfortable fit that doesn't restrict your breathing. On the sides of the vest/backpack, you can find two-way tightening harnesses that allow you to customize your fit until you are completely satisfied with it! This will remove any bouncing issues. A small problem can arise with the harness parts that are left hanging when you tighten them, but this is solved easily by either putting them in the pockets, strapping them to the straps, or you can just cut away the excess material if it bothers you. The backpack is breathable thanks to the 3D ventilated mesh, so you won't experience any trapped heat or irritation!
Breathability

Breathability

Regular backpacks do not have so much contact with your body, but these specialized vest-like backpacks hug your body tightly, and when the material choice is poor, you will heat up and end up swimming in a pool of your own making. The Circuit is thankfully made out of a blend of mesh and polyester. The mesh does the breathing job, while the polyester wicks away moisture and keeps the construction tight. The mesh is not your any run-of-the-mill mesh; it's actually 3D ventilated mesh, and it does an excellent job at keeping you cool and dry. You probably won't think twice about wearing a tight backpack without a shirt, but many users report that it's actually soft enough, and it doesn't cause any chafing or rubbing, so you can actually wear it without a shirt if you become too warm! The bladder can hold ice alongside the water (although you will hear the ice sploosh), so you can even get a cool, refreshing drink if you feel like it!
Size & Weight

Size & Weight

The size of the backpack and its weight will determine how comfortable and worthy of our time it actually is. The Circuit is actually a lightweight backpack, weighing only 5 oz empty! Even when it's filled up, the overall weight shouldn't go over a mere 4 pounds, which is much, much less than what other backpacks made for this occasion weigh! The bladder is what gives the backpack most of its weight, as the 1.5 liter of water adds up to about 3.5 pounds, so when you add it all up, you get those 4 pounds we mentioned. The backpack has a lot of extra room for additional gear and valuables, and unless they weigh more than usual, you should have zero issues with this backpack! The vest is one size fits all, which some people may find troubling. The vest is very adjustable though, and it can fit circumferences from 26 inches to 41 inches, which is what standard sizes cover anyway. The fit created by adjusting the harnesses is tight and comforting, so you should have no issues with the universal size.
Durability

Durability

A good backpack is a durable backpack, and the Circuit was definitely made to last a long time. As we mentioned before, the vest is made out of 3D mesh and nylon. The 70D nylon is very sturdy, resistant to wear and tear damage. The stitches and seams on the vest are of excellent quality too, and they will hold on no matter how much you pull on the straps and harnesses. The 3D mesh, besides being breathable and comfortable, is also properly constructed, so you should have zero issues there as well. The zippers are hardy and work without flaws, and the harnesses and cords are unlikely to snap. In addition to all of that, CamelBak offers a lifetime guarantee to all of its customers. This guarantee works if you find even the smallest manufacturing error on your backpack, and it's Camelback's way of saying they value the relationships they build with their customers!
Features

Features

Now let's dive in and see what the Circuit has to offer. For starters, we should mention the pockets. Any good backpack should have a lot of storage space, but it's important to find that fine line between just fine and too much. The Circuit has just the right amount of pockets, which gives it a sleek and streamlined appearance. The front panel of the Circuit has four pockets. There are two large pockets, and they sit lower on the panel. These do not have zippers and are instead fastened with a bungee cord. This makes them the ideal place to store food, or even extra water bottles, as the bungee cord will wrap your snacks tightly, minimizing the risk of them falling out while you're running full speed. There are two smaller pockets that sit higher up. One of these pockets is a bit harder to find, which makes it great if you want to carry your keys or I.D. with you. The sweat-proof larger pocket has a zipper, and you can easily fit your phone or another handy device in it.

The bladder can hold up to 2.5 L of cool water, and it's easy to access so you can refill quickly on fill-up stations. The large pocket where the bladder sits actually has some extra room where you could even fit a jacket if you start feeling cold! The hose is bendy enough, and the valve has a good flow, so you won't struggle to actually get a sip of water out of the backpack. The cap that sits on the valve has a 1/4 turn, and it's oversized, making it easier to grasp. This valve is a bite one, which means that you will need to bite down on it before you sip water. This way, any leakage or spills are prevented, while the water flow remains the same. The bladder is protected with a film that prevents bacteria and fungus from growing in it, so even if you forget to hang it to dry, you shouldn't face any horrible problems!
Style

Style

Backpacks made for sport are rarely blessed with good looks, but the Circuit is masterfully designed. You can't wear it when you go out though, but it's still a looker! The colorways on the Circuit are a combo of black and gray, called Graphite/Sulphur Spring, a combo of blue called Nautical Blue/Black, and the bolder colorways for people who love to stand out are Deep Amethyst/Fiery Coral, and Lime Punch/Silver. All of the Circuit versions have a reflective logo and two reflective stripes that make the runner visible in the dark, saving him or her from danger. The sleek and minimalist design of the backpack makes it an ideal fit for fitness enthusiasts who like to keep their style simple and refreshing.
Value

Value

The Circuit is one of the cheaper running vests on the market today. Costing about 80 dollars, it shouldn't chip your budget at all, and when you consider everything it brings to the table, it's truly a steal! Although the only back pocket is the storage space for the water bladder, it still has plenty of room, and the minimalistic design makes it ideal for plenty of enthusiastic runners. We believe that the Circuit is more than worth the cost!
The Final Word

The Final Word

The CamelBak Circuit is a truly awesome backpack. It's small and lightweight, so you won't struggle with excess weight or bouncing issues. The vest is one size fits all, but it's super adjustable thanks to the harnesses and wide shoulder straps. There's plenty of pockets to store your good, and the rear storage where the 1.5 L water bladder sits has enough room to fit an extra water bottle, just in case! The only issues with this backpack are the extra harness length when you tighten them all the way, and the lack of storage on the back, which is really not so troublesome considering the pockets sitting in the front. All in all, we believe that you should definitely give the Circuit a go!
