At GarageGymBuilder.com we are dedicated to promoting the fitness lifestyle among young people. We know that doing so will steer teenagers away from all of those negative lifestyle choices that can ruin their long-term health. That’s why we are offering $3000 in annual scholarships to inspire young people and give them access to the training they need.

What You Need to Do

Garage Gym Builder is awarding $3000 in scholarships to cover the cost of exercise equipment. The competition is open to any young people under the age of 25.

Format Guidelines

Here’s what you need to do:

Write a minimum 1000 word essay on one of the following topics​:

  • The Benefits of Strength Training for Young People
  • Why Youth Should Get Addicted to Fitness
  • How Exercise Can Make You a Better Student

Note: We encourage you to use personal experiences and anecdotes but would also like to see cited references and studies in your essay. All sources should be cited as per APA guidelines.

How to Submit Your Application

  1. All submissions must be in the form of a Microsoft Word document or as a Google document.
  2. Submissions must be attached to an email, together with this form and sent to [email protected] , with the subject name ‘Scholarship Submission’
  3. All submissions must be received by August 31st, 2017.
  4. The winners will be contacted and announced by September 30, 2017.
  5. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Prize Allocation

  • 1st Prize - $1500 scholarship
  • 2nd Prize - $1000 scholarship
  • 3rd Prize - $500 scholarship

Geoff’s article focused on how getting started on a regular exercise program in your early teens can give you the mental discipline, lifestyle habits and drive to succeed in every area of life.

Simon Bridges - Winner of $1000 scholarship

Simon showed how exercise can make you a better student. He did a great job of citing relevant studies and combined them with his own experience to make a very persuasive argument for the fitness lifestyle.

Scholarship Rules​

  1. Entrants are limited to one submission only. Participants are encouraged to share our scholarship information on their websites/blogs or social media channels.
  2. Submissions must be a minimum of 1000 words. There is no maximum.​
  3. Submissions must be original and not previously published. References must be credited and sourced.
  4. Any evidence of plagiarism will result in the submission being ineligible.
  5. Submitters are not permitted to make contact with any member of the judging panel in relation to the competition.
  6. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  7. Entry into the competition gives Garagegymbuilder.com permission to use the essay, in addition to the person’s name in promotional and marketing materials.
  8. If it becomes necessary for Garagegymbuilder.com to modify any of the rules, or the submission deadline or judging announcement date, they will contact submitters via email.
  9. Any Federal, State or Local taxes that are incurred in relation to the prizes are the responsibility of the winner.
  10. If it is discovered that a winning entry has violated any of the rules subsequent to a prize allocation, the prize will be immediately revoked.
